Question:
Does Ali (a.) say in Asl-ush-Shi’ah Wa Usuliha on page 193 that Abu Bakr and Umar did not innovate and spread Islam and monotheism?
Answer:
The source goes back to the falsified statement of a scholar and not to the statement of the Imam (a.). Therefore, it is a worthless lie.
Kashif Al-Ghita’ writes: “The two groups agree that he (Ali) initially refused to take the oath of allegiance, and in the work Sahih Al-Bukhari, in the chapter on the Khaibar campaign, it is even said that he did not take the oath of allegiance except after six months and was followed by a group of the most famous companions such as Az-Zubair, Ammar, Al-Miqdad and others. He then saw that his restraint would cause irreparable damage to Islam and a rupture that could not be repaired. Everyone knew that Ali (a.) did not claim his right to succession out of greed for worldly power or superiority. His aim was to restore the strength of Islam, to extend its scope, to widen its protective surface, to give a hold to the truth and let falsehood die. When he saw that the two retards, by which I mean the first and second successors, were making a great effort in spreading the Word of Unity, preparing armies, expanding the openings (of wars), they were neither superior nor dominant, he took the oath of allegiance and peace treaty and renounced what he considered to be his right, so that Islam would be saved from destruction and his word would not be split and people would not return to the previous period of ignorance, while his followers would remain in the care of his protective wing.“ [Asl-ush-Shi’ah Wa Usuliha, pages 192-194]
Hajar Al-Bajali reported that Imam Muhammad Al-Baqir (a.) said: “If Ali (a.) had found enough supporters, he would have cut off the heads of both of them (Abu Bakr and Umar).” [Bihar-ul-Anwar of Al-Majlisi, Volume 30 page 383]
